The Northeast Frontier Railway(NFR) has started sending petroleum products directly to Tripura with the commissioning of the first petroleum products terminal at Dharmanagar in North Tripura district, a NFR official said today
High speed diesel is loaded from Tinsukia and Bongaigaon junctions in Assam and stored at Dharmanagar terminal, NFR Chief Public Relations Officer Pranav Jyoti Sharma said in a statement.
The Dharmanagar terminal can store up to three months’ buffer stock of fuel. It can store 225 wagons of 55,000 litres loading capacity each, he said.
In 2016, NF Railways had to run roll on-roll off services where high speed diesel loaded in trucks were transported on flat wagons from Assam to Tripura.
