Chief minister Nitish Kumar will officially announce 100% household electrification in the state on November 1.
The Centre had on October 25 declared that Bihar government achieved 100% household electrification under Saubhagya scheme by providing meter-based electricity connection to 32.49 lakh households in rural areas. The number of houses under the scheme increased to 32,52,422 on Tuesday. The official website of Saubhgya scheme showed 1,39,66,503 houses in rural as well as urban areas in the state having been electrified.
According to officials in energy department, the state government is now eligible for incentives and award from the Union ministry of power for achieving 100% household electrification before the stipulated deadline. Read more
