The district power department is working on nine substations that will boost electric supply to the city and its outskirts by next summer, officials said.
Of the nine, the power department is in the final stages of work on two substations — a 400 Kv capacity gas insulated substation in Sector 148 and another of 220 Kv capacity in Botanical Garden in Sector 38A. While the Sector 148 substation is being built at Rs 365 crore, the other one is expected to cost Rs 98.45 crore.
Apart from these, four substations are being developed elsewhere. These are a 400 Kv capacity substation in Sector 123 and 132 Kv capacity substations in sectors 63, 67 and 115. Together, they are expected to improve the power situation of the city once fully operational from next year.
Officials said the 400 Kv substation in Sector 123 was likely to be ready by October this year while the three others should be developed by next March. Read More
