The district consumer disputes redressal forum has directed Northern Railway, Chandigarh and Mohali station master to pay RS 10,000 for delay in refunding money for cancelled tickets. The complainant, Sanjeevan Guru said he booked four second AC railway tickets on November 11, 2016 from Mumbai to Chandigarh on January 10, 2017 on payment of Rs 10,060.
Later, the complainant realized that on the scheduled date of journey, he and his family members would not be able to travel by train due to some exigency and would have to travel by air instead. So he requested Northern Railway to refund the money paid for tickets on November 24, 2016.
The complainant repeatedly inquired into the status of the refund but no useful information was given by the railways. Eventually, they closed the case arbitrarily despite the complainant completing all formalities without delay. Read More
