Even as crude oil prices dropped by more than 1% last week, petrol prices were left untouched by state-run oil marketing companies for the last seven days. Diesel prices were also left unchanged today. The move coincides with the assembly elections in Maharashtra and Haryana which are taking place today. In the past too, fuel rates have been mostly untouched during elections.
It is being expected that prices of both the fuels might be cut sharply tomorrow as prices are revised everyday at 6 am.
