State-run oil marketing companies on Friday (August 23) refrained from changing the retail prices of petrol and diesel for the third successive day across the country. In national capital Delhi, a litre of petrol today costs 71.84 a litre while diesel costs Rs 65.11 per litre, no change compared with Thursday’s price. The retail prices of petrol and diesel are the cheapest Delhi among all metros and most state capitals due to lower taxes.
In Kolkata, citizens have to pay Rs 74.54 for a litre of petrol while diesel costs Rs 67.49 per litre, as per data available with Indian Oil Corp website. Similarly, in Mumbai, petrol and diesel are selling for Rs 77.50 a litre and Rs 68.26 per litre respectively, no change in prices against Thursday’s rates.
People in Chennai have to shell out Rs 74.62 for a litre of petrol while diesel retailed at Rs 68.79 per litre. In Noida also, petrol price remained stagnant at Rs 73.79 a litre and diesel costs Rs 65.40 per litre.
