Following the daily revision in retail fuel rates, state-run oil marketing companies slashed the price of petrol by 8-9 paise but chose to increase the price of diesel by 5 across four major cities in the country on Friday (May17).
In Delhi, petrol is priced at Rs 71.10 a litre, 8 paise less than yesterday’s rate of 71.18 per litre. Diesel in the national capital is retailing at Rs 65.96, 5 paise more than Thursday’s price, as per data from Indian Oil Corporation website.
Worth mentioning here is that the retail fuel prices in Delhi are the cheapest among all metros and most state capitals due to lower taxes. On Thursday, the retail petrol prices were static while diesel prices were hiked by 5 paise across major cities of the country.
In Mumbai, citizens have to pay Rs 76.71 (8 paise decrease) for a litre of petrol while diesel costs Rs 69.11 per litre, a 5 paise jump from yesterday’s rate. Read More
