Power demand to rise from 399 megawatt to 448 megawatt by 2022
The peak power demand in Chandigarh will be jumped to 448 megawatt (MW) by the 2021-22 financial year. The UT electricity department in its multi year tariff (MYT) petition filed before the Joint Electricity Regulatory Commission (JERC), have submitted about the peak hour demand — period of high consumer demand in the coming years.

With population projected to grow at high rate, the UT electricity department already facing tough challenge of providing uninterrupted power supply to the city residents.

In its MYT, the department submitted that peak hour demand which was 399MW in current financial year will jumped to 448MW by 2021-22 financial year.  Read More
