Power Grid Leads The Race For Eastern Region System Strengthening Scheme

In a major boost to the Power Grid Corporation of India Limited has emerged as the successful bidder for the Eastern Region System Strengthening Scheme -XXI (ERSS XXI) in Bihar under Tariff based competitive bidding for ISTS.

The bidder bidding was undertaken by REC TPCL or the Rural Electrification Corporation’s arm — REC Transmission Projects Company
The competitive bidding was aimed at strengthening the inter-state transmission system.

Sources said the project compcrises establishment of three new 400kV substations and associated 400kV transmission lines in the state of Bihar.

The new substations are to be established in Sitamarhi, Chandauti and Saharsa in Bihar.

State-owned PowerGrid has emerged as the lowest bidder for power transmission project Eastern Region System Strengthening Scheme XXI in Bihar.

The tariff-based bidding was conducted by the Rural Electrification Corporation’s arm — REC Transmission Projects Company — an industry source said, adding that PowerGrid quoted the lowest rate.

The competitive bidding was aimed at strengthening the inter-state transmission system.

The project ERSS XXI, the source said, involves establishment of three new 400 kv sub-stations and associated 400 kv transmission lines in Bihar.

The new sub-stations are to be established in Sitamarhi, Chandauti and Saharsa in Bihar, the source added.
PowerGrid is a central power transmission utility.
