Progress Rail, a wholly owned subsidiary of Caterpillar Inc., recently announced it has been chosen by Canadian Pacific to supply an order of 30 upgraded EMD SD70ACU locomotives – otherwise known as modernised versions of SD90MAC models. Once fully remanufactured these freight locomotives will primarily serve in heavy haul applications.
“Our customers operate all over the world, and have varying needs based upon their regional performance requirements. Fleet modernisation provides the railroads with the opportunity to upgrade their locomotives with today’s technology to continue going the distance,” said Progress Rail’s Executive Vice President of Rolling Stock, Marty Haycraft.
“We are pleased Canadian Pacific chose to modernise their fleet with our EMD SD70ACU locomotives, which are known for their proven technology, overall cost effectiveness and ability to serve as a sustainable product operating on the mainline,” he added. Read More
