The oil ministry has asked state-run oil refiners and fuel marketing companies to furnish exhaustive personal details, including Adhaar and linked bank accounts, of drivers of tankers contracted by them with the aim of improving their prospects in the job market through certification.
The details are being collected under the RPL (Recognition Prior Learning) initiative, a key component of Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s programme to develop skill and entrepreneurship by assessing and certifying individuals with skills or prior experience.
The data sought by the ministry include date of birth, place of birth, district, tehsil, block, police station, post office, PIN Code, caste, religion and IFSC Code of Adhaar-seeded bank account. State-run oil companies are estimated to have nearly 1.5 lakh tankers on contract for ferrying products to retail outlets and distribution centres throughout the country. Read more
