Indian railways has manufactured a high speed locomotive in West Bengal’s Chittaranjan Locomotive Works, achieving a top speed of 180 kmph, railway minister Piyush Goyal said in a tweet on Monday.
He said the locomotive has been manufactured under the ‘Make in India’ initiative and will speed up trains like never before. Earlier, country’s first semi-high speed train Vande Bharat Express had hit the 180 kmph during trial. Vande Bharat is a train set like that of Delhi Metro trains.
ources said the manufacturing of locomotive that can run at maximum speed 180km will prove to be a boon once government completes expansion of railway lines and do away with all railway crossings. Read More
