Union Railway Minister Piyush Goyal on Monday announced that food and water will be provided to passengers if the train gets delayed during meal time. Addressing the media, Goyal said, “We want Indian Railways to be an active participant in promoting cleanliness across the network. We will work towards passenger engagement and create awareness among passengers.”
He further said, “Punctuality, cleanliness and catering were 3 issues on which we’ve done reviews of 7 zones. While efforts to improve punctuality will be taken without compromising our efforts on safety. Any work related to safety will be given highest priority.”
Indian railway is taking several measures to attract more passengers. This includes giving new look to about 30,000 dark blue coaches of the trains. In this bid, the public transporter will get all Mail/Express trains repainted in a new colour scheme – beige and brown.
First in the lot would be the Delhi-Pathankot Express. Besides this, the bio-toilets in trains will also be replaced with aeroplane-like toilets. Read More
