The Railways has begun taking help of corporate houses to spruce up train stations in Mumbai and other parts of the country. Earlier this week, the Central Railway said the proposal by a real estate company to beautify the Ambivali train station has been cleared.
Ambivali was one of three stations where the Indian Army was roped in to construct three foot overbridges after the stampede at the Elphinstone Road station last year.
According to railway officials, more companies would be roped in to provide amenities at major train stations in Mumbai as part of their Corporate Social Responsibility initiatives.
A meeting of representatives of several corporate houses with senior railway officials were organized to help take the programme forward.
