Government-run Khadi and Village Industries Commission (KVIC) recently said that the sale of Khadi products has increased three-fold in the last three financial years. It further said that a ‘Khadi Express’ train will be run in order to create awareness about Khadi prodcuts, reported PTI.
The agency report cited KVIC stating that Khadi turnover in 2014-15 was Rs 811 and in 2017-18 it increased to Rs 2,509 crore.
KVIC chairman Vinai Kumar Saxena was quoted in the agency report saying, “We have written a letter to Indian Railways for running a Khadi Express train which would exhibit Khadi products linked with Mahatma Gandhi in view of his 150th birth anniversary.” Read More
