A total of fourteen railway staff members, including seven house-keeping staff and seven coach attendants of August Kranti Rajdhani Express, have been suspended after 25 passengers were allegedly drugged and robbed of valuables worth Rs 10-15 lakh on board on Wednesday near Ratlam in Madhya Pradesh, claims a report.
In a major development, a special team of Delhi Railway Protection Force has been sent to Kota and Ratlam to assist in the investigation.
As per The Times of India report, the robbed passengers raised suspicion over the involvement of the on-board railway staff in the incident. They also informed that the thieves stole the purses belonging to women passengers only as those were found in toilet, inside the kitchen and dustbin
Speaking to TOI on phone, one of them claimed that only purses belonging to women passengers were stolen. Next morning, those were found in toilet, dustbin and even inside kitchen, which are exclusively used by railway staff. The report also quotes, Anil Saxena, additional director-general and public relation officer of the railway board as saying that the GRP is investigating the matter, but based on prima facie probe, it can be said that no intoxicant spray was used.
