Southern Power Distribution Company of Telangana Ltd (TSSPDCL) has been presented with “Smart Cities India Award” under the category of clean and green city award for its initiatives of encouraging solar rooftops on a large scale.
The award was received by Chairman and Managing Director of the Discom G. Raghuma Reddy at the fifth Smart Cities India-2019 held at New Delhi on Thursday night. The Discom has been chosen for the award for its achievements in adoption, promotion and integration of renewable energy and rooftop solar under distributed generation model.
According to the officials of TSSPDCL, it has added renewable energy capacity of 3,885 MW under distributed generation model during the last four years besides meeting the renewable power purchase obligation (RPO) targets fixed by the electricity regulation commission for the last two years.
