The Shatabdi Express between Mumbai Central and Ahmedabad, with its dark green interiors, will soon don a new avatar — inside and out. Officials at the National Institute of Design, which has submitted new designs and colour schemes to the Railways, said the work on changing the interior and exterior of the Shatabdi Express will be launched soon.
Mohammed Naim Shaikh, Product Designer and in-charge of the Railway Design Centre at NID, said the designs were submitted in January to the railway authorities. “The first concept imparts sharpness and brilliance to interiors with varied colours, curves and motif while lending Indian cultural identity to the exteriors. The second concept has elements that represent dynamic future of India, speed and force in the interiors while representing environmental diversity in the exteriors,” he said. Read More
