Soon, get multiple meal options while booking train tickets

Indian Railways is planning to offer multiple meal options on trains. Railways catering, e-ticketing and tourism arm IRCTC is all set to offer standard to deluxe meal options on trains to passengers. The Railway Ministry is reportedly working on a new catering policy under which IRCTC will offer multiple meal options to passengers, based on their payment ability.

Railway Board Chairman VK Yadav recently said that IRCTC catering policy is currently in works and the objective behind introducing this policy is to offer food according to a passenger’s budget and their desire to pay for it.

In an interaction with media about Railways’ 100-day achievement, Yadav said, “So, if the passenger wants to pay Rs 50 for the meal at the time of booking the IRCTC train ticket, that can be opted for. For passengers wanting a more deluxe meal, there will be the option to pay for a more expensive thali etc.”  interaction to list out Indian Railways 100-day achievements.

This means that once this policy comes into effect, passengers will be able to book their meal according to their budget while booking their e-tickets. There will be a menu from which they can choose the items depending upon their budget and their desire to pay.  Read More
