The Turkish and Azerbaijani presidents on Tuesday inaugurated a key pipeline carrying natural gas from Azerbaijan’s gas fields to Turkish markets and eventually to Europe, part of a wider Southern Gas Corridor project that aims to diversify gas supplies and reduce countries’ dependence on Russia.
External Affairs Minister (EAM) Sushma Swaraj will pay an official visit to Azerbaijan from April 4-6 at the invitation of the Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Azerbaijan, Elmar Mammadyarov, the Ministry of External Affairs (MEA) announced on Tuesday.
Eight kilometers of the railway lie within Azerbaijan, while the remaining two are in Iran. The line is significant because it links Azerbaijan’s rail network with that of Iran, specifically the Qazvin-Rasht-Astara railroad.
Azerbaijan cut oil production to 776,400 barrels per day (bpd) in February, sticking to its pledge to reduce output as part of a global deal, Energy Ministry said on Monday.
