With the buzz of development and security, Prime Minister Narendra Modi will launch a host of mega projects during his flying visit to the winter capital on Saturday, according to official sources here.
Over hundred villages in Jammu and Kashmir are “un-electrified”, the state’s Power Development Minister Sunil Kumar Sharma has said adding efforts were on to ensure power supply reaches them by the end of next month.
The government today said NHAI has awarded a contract for construction of 58.2-km ring road around Jammu city. “The National Highways Authority of India (NHAI) has issued Letter of Award (LOA) for construction of 58.25 km long standalone ring road/bypass around Jammu city in the state of Jammu and Kashmir.
Union minister Nitin Gadkari yesterday said that the central government has sanctioned Rs. 4,300 crore for the construction of ring roads – one each in Jammu and Srinagar – to decongest traffic in the two cities of Jammu and Kashmir.
Despite slippery road conditions due to below freezing temperature, the national highway connecting Kashmir valley with the rest of the country, was through for traffic.
