Visitors to National Rail Museum in Chanakyapuri can now experience a ride on India’s oldest monorail, which was once owned and used by the Maharaja of Patiala, Bhupinder Singh.
Indian Railways is one of the largest and oldest railway networks in the world. It has been in operation for 180 years, starting in 1837 with the Red Hill Railway that ran from Red Hills to Chintadripet bridge in Madras (now Chennai). And now, Indian Railways is working with internet giant Google to bring that 180-year heritage closer to the millions of people who use it.
Union railway minister Suresh Prabhu on Thursday announced an integrated mobile application for passengers. In a ‘mini railway budget’ presented at the National Rail Museum, Prabhu released the transporters business plan for the year.
