Union Power Minister R K Singh today asked all states to use allocated funds under various schemes, including IPDS and DDUGJY, to achieve the electrification target for all households by year-end.
The power ministry has advised companies to regulate default air conditioner (AC) settings to promote energy efficiency in the area which is expected to be a key driver of global electricity demand in the coming decades.
On April 29, the Narendra Modi government electrified all 5,97,464 villages. As more than 3.1 crore rural households still remain unconnected, the next target is to provide electricity connection to every single household in the country by year-end, three months ahead of the initial deadline.
