The Thiruvananthapuram city corporation has managed to reduce power expenses of the main office by half, after installation of solar plant with 140KW capacity . The plant became operational in February 2016.The city corporation which had energy bills Rs 1.5-1.6 lakh per month now pays around Rs 50,000-Rs 70,000 per month.
The average power requirements at the main office of city corporation on a normal working day is 600-700 units. The plant generates 560 units a day .
