The Central Railway on Sunday conducted the speed trial of a train at 120 kmph in the Karjat-Neral section of the Mumbai division. The inspection train successfully clocked the speed of 120 kmph between the two stations, where the current maximum permissible speed is 105 kmph.
“The trial was successful. This means that the track in this section is fit for running trains at 120 kmph,” said a senior Central Railway official to Mirror.
Officials said that the success of the test will not translate into any immediate benefit though it may be considered in the future.
The trial was part of the annual inspection conducted on the Kalyan-Lonavala section of the Mumbai division on Sunday morning by a team comprising of the Commissioner for Railway Safety Sushil Chandra and senior officer from the Headquarters. Read More…
