According to Railway Board Chairman Ashwani Lohani, all LHB (Linke Hofmann Busch) coaches currently in use by the Indian Railways, will be recalled to fix a certain technical issue. It caused the trains to jerk when they restarted after every stop.
“There were complaints of jerks at stop/start, and we have found a solution. On the advice of the Research Designs & Standards Organisation, we are going to change the draft gear which was causing the jerks. All the LHB coaches will be recalled and fitted with balanced draft gear to rectify the defect,” Mr. Lohani told The Hindu.
The coaches, which are developed with the help of Linke-Hofmann-Busch of Germany, are manufactured mostly at the Rail Coach Factory in Kapurthala, India. Read more
