The Indian Railways has always upgraded its services to suit the needs of the passengers. And in an attempt to up their game even further, they’re now offering ‘vrat ka khana’ (food during fasting) as a part of its e-catering menu. That’s because fasting while travelling can be a harrowing experience, especially when it’s a long train journey. The timing couldn’t be better it’s that time of the year when festivals like Navratri and Dusshera get people to prefer simple, fasting food.
The Railways’ catering team has come up with the idea because those who will be travelling during the ritualistic fast courtesy the festival, might find it hard to get the food of their choice. This has always been the case, where people observing fasts due to religious commitments have faced inconvenience in matters of food. But now no more.
