BSES discoms are undertaking extensive pre-monsoon checks and preventive maintenance of its equipment to gear up for the monsoon.
BSES said its monsoon action plan had an integrated proactive approach, which was aimed at safety and minimizing the down time of power supply arising out of exigencies during monsoon.
“To ensure that our 37 lakh customers enjoy an incident free power supply, BRPL and BYPL are undertaking all possible measures,” it said.
BSES discoms have taken active measures to minimise the accumulation of moisture in the Grids and Panels to reduce the incidence of moisture related breakdowns.
The height of the foundation (base) of transformers in low-lying areas has been increased to safe levels, Cleaning of rooftops has been done to avoid water logging that in turn may create seepage and moisture in the switchgear, trenches have been cleaned and trees pruned to prevent entangling with overhead BSES cables.
“We urge all to alert BSES in case somebody comes across fallen trees / branches on electricity wires due to rain or strong winds. This will enable us to take prompt corrective action. We also request people to stay away from an electric pole or an electric installation, if it is surrounded by water,” said a BSES spokesperson.
BSES has asked people to stay away from electrical installations like electricity poles, sub-stations, transformers, streetlights etc in case of water-logging.
