ECR Launches Awareness Drive To Check Accidents

Following new railway minister Piyush Goel’s recent directive to different zones to check railway accidents at any cost, the East Central Railway (ECR) has launched an awareness drive to check accidents at level crossings and replace old coaches and tracks.

Sources said the drive was launched after taking over charge of the ministry. He directed each zonal railways . He also asked officials to monitor passengers’ safety measures on priority basis in each zonal railways. “Goel suggested five- point safety measures to be implemented in each division of the zones,” said a source.

According to a Board official, Goel stressed on the need to eliminate all unmanned level crossing gates phase wise in about three years from now. Railways has also decided to replace all old tracks. Railways would slowly replace existing coaches with LHB coaches, he said adding all locomotives would now be fitted with anti fog lights from safety point of view. Read More…
