Indian high commissioner to Dhaka Harsh Vardhan Shringla suggested that the Tripura government take the initiative to set up a railway link between Tripura and Bangladesh through Belonia in South Tripura – like the upcoming rail link in the Agartala-Akhaura section.
Shringla arrived here on Saturday through the Akhaura checkpost and left for Bangladesh on Sunday. During his brief visit here, Shringla called on chief minister Manik Sarkar and held a meeting with chief secretary Sanjeev Rajan and a number of top officials, discussing trade and infrastructure-related issues between Tripura and Bangladesh.
