India’s largest power company — the state-owned NTPC Ltd has got a new chairman. Gurdeep Singh has taken over the reins of the company on February 4th as its chairman and managing director (CMD).
Singh, 51, is a Mechanical Engineer by profession and has over 28 years of experience in power generation sector. Prior to joining NTPC, Singh was the Managing Director of Gujarat State Electricity Corporation Limited (GSECL).
Significantly, Singh started his career with NTPC Limited and moved on to work at various levels with both Indian and multi-national companies including Powergen, CLP, IDFC, CESC and AES.
