Anil Ambani’s Sasan Power Limited (SPL), a wholly owned subsidiary of Reliance Power that operates the 3,960 mega watt Ultra Mega Power Project in Madhya Pradesh has been granted permission by the Ministry of Coal to produce upto 17.20 million tonnes per annum of coal during current financial year 2015-16 from its Moher & Moher Amlohri extension coal mines.
Moher & Moher Amlohri Extension coal mines, the largest captive coal mine in the country in terms of volume handled.
A SPL statement said the coal ministry on March 15, 2016 has permitted SPL to increase the coal production upto 17.20 mtpa during 2015-16.
“This will enable SPL to sustain its power plant operations, which are currently at about 100% Plant Load Factor, creating a new benchmark in its very first year of full scale operations, in the Indian Power Sector.”
The move will also facilitate Sasan UMPP to generate additionally 2200 million units of electricity, which will benefit 42 crore population amongst 7 procurer States.

It may also be noted here that the Moher & Moher Amlohri Extension coal mines has achieved highest coal production of 16 mtpa and is set to create a new benchmark of coal production amongst the private sector players.
