Mop Achieves Annual Target Of Electrifying 7000 Villages Under Ddugjy

The government said it has electrified 7008 villages  till March 23, 2016 during 2015-16. 

Stating this power and coal minister, Piyush Goyal said that with this, the annual target of electrifying 7008 villages during this fiscal year under Deen Dayal Upadhyaya Gram Jyoti Yojna (DDUGJY) has been achieved a week before close of financial year.

In his tweet on achieving this milestone,  Goyal said “A small step for a village, a giant leap for India. Annual target of electrifying 7000 villages achieved! # GarvSe.”

Goyal further said that this dramatic turnaround in village electrification programme has taken place under the visionary leadership of Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi.

It may be noted here that In view of the Prime Minister, Shri Narendra Modi’s address to nation, on Independence Day, Government of India has decided to electrify remaining 18,452 un-electrified villages within 1000 days i.e. by 01st May, 2018.

The project has been taken on mission mode and strategy for electrification consists of squeezing the implementation schedule to 12 months and also dividing village electrification process in 12 Stage milestones with defined timelines for monitoring
