NBCC (India) Limited, the government’s construction arm, is now planning to take up redevelopment projects in Uttar Pradesh. These will include the redevelopment of old government colonies in cities such as Varanasi, Gorakhpur, Agra, Shahjahanpur, etc.
“We are in talks with authorities in UP and are targeting a few redevelopment projects in the state in cities such as Varanasi, Gorakhpur, Agra, Shahjehanpur, etc. We have already submitted a redevelopment project to the UP government. It will take another three to six months to finalise the plans,” says Dr. Anoop Kumar Mittal, CMD, NBCC.
“We are planning to redevelop existing Central and state government housing projects. Most of these have a horizontal spread and we are now planning to go vertical. We will be constructing multi-level storeys and will be generating funds by constructing commercial complexes, the same model that we have followed in the East Kidwai Nagar project in Delhi,” he says.
The idea is to augment housing in these cities by at least two to three times. The project is likely to benefit smart cities in the state, he adds. Read More…
