Nitin Gadkari led ministry inks record, replaces damaged bridge with spanking new one in just 165 days

In a big achievement, Union Minister Nitin Gadkari-led Road Transport and Highways Ministry was able to rebuild a damaged old Masonry Arch Bridge in a record time period of just 165 days. The 5.90 m wide and 184 m long bridge on Savitri and Kal river near Mahad in Maharashtra had collapsed due to heavy unprecedented rainfall on the night of 2nd August , 2016. Taking note of the incident, Gadkari issued immediate orders to construct a new bridge within 6 months. A total cost of Rs. 35.77 cr has been spent and the rebuilding exercise was udertaken and completed in a record time of 165 days before the onset of monsoon rain. Read more
