Nitin Gadkari Reveals Government’s Plan To Provide Roadside Amenities Like Parking, ATMs On National Highways

Road Transport, Highways and Shipping Minister Nitin Gadkari revealed government’s plans to provide wayside amenities along the national highways across the country on every 50 km on Thursday, reported PTI. Amenities such as refreshments, restrooms, parking, lodging and ATMs will soon be available every 50 km along national highways. Aping the west, the centre is planning to set up the similar wayside amenities, so as to provide safe and affordable pit-stops for highway passengers and truckers. “Recognising lack of wayside amenities along the highways as we see in Germany, Europe and the US, we have decided to provide wayside amenities at every 50 km of length of National Highways, which will be developed through private participation,” Gadkari said

Gadkari said that the ministry has planned to develop these entities with the aim of not only assessing the need of different highway commuters but also to offer area specific handicrafts by local artisans besides local food and fruits.
