The state cabinet on Tuesday said Noida Metro Rail Corporation (NMRC) will maintain status quo and not be a subsidiary to the newly formed Uttar Pradesh Metro Rail Corporation (UPMRC).
It confirmed the formation of UPMRC, which will be an umbrella body to implement all metro projects across the state, including Agra and Kanpur. The Lucknow metro will be reconstituted to head the UPMRC, said officials, adding that other projects have been proposed in Allahabad, Varanasi and Gorakhpur.
The state government had earlier suggested that NMRC will become a subsidiary to the UPMRC but the decision was made only after discussion with the Centre. Read More
