Research Design and Standards Organization (RDSO) has started testing the East-West Metro — the penultimate inspection before the service can become operational.
A 14-member team from RDSO, under the ministry of railways that tests technical aspects of new railway projects, started inspecting the Metro rakes, tracks, electrification and other facilities between Sector V and Salt Lake stadium on Thursday. The team came from the RDSO headquarters in Lucknow.
After the RDSO testing, Kolkata Metro Rail Corporation (KMRC) can seek permission of the Commissioner of Metro Rail Safety (CMRS) to conduct their own safety test. Only after getting CMRS nod, KMRC can commence its commercial operations along the 6km stretch.
Therefore, the RDSO certificate is the most crucial as East-West Metro is preparing for commissioning along the Sector V-Stadium elevated tracks by early next year. Read More
