Goa Pradesh Congress Committee (GPCC) president Shantaram Naik (MP) today said Thivim Station was a gateway of Goa to those coming to the state by railways and hence Konkan Railway should make all efforts to make it a smart station.
Speaking after inaugurating a railway project of 90 lakh, he said Konkan Railways had to develop Canacona and Bali stations on Konkan Railway route so that the route was used by the office-going Goans.
Mr Naik said the road leading to Thivim Railway Station needed to be beautified so that tourist getting down at Thivim station got impressed.
Stating that Goa was part of Hubli Division which did not take any interest to obtain MPLAD funds which he offered to develop Vasco Railway Station, he said Goa should be given the status of an independent Railway Division as it was an independent state.
Shivdas Kambli, President of Thivim Block Congress Committee, Sarpanch Tripti Shinde, Protocol Officer of Konkan Railway Baban Ghatge, among others were present on the occasion.
