U.S. natural gas end-of-season storage forecasts

U.S. natural gas storage was expected to end the April-October injection season at a below-normal 3.7 trillion cubic feet (tcf) at the end of October, according to analysts. That compares with a five-year (2012-16) average of 3.9 tcf and falls well short of last year’s record high of 4.0 tcf at the end of the injection season. The 385 active storage fields in the lower 48 states had a working capacity of 4.373 tcf in November 2016, according to federal data.
