The much awaited Kamarajar Port-Adani group’s Rs 1,270-crore container terminal at Kamarajar Port in Ennore will be inaugurated by Union Shipping and Road Transport and Highways Minister Nitin Gadkari on Friday.
The terminal would have a handling capacity of 1.4 million TEUS, with a total quay length of 730 metres, which, upon completion, is considered to change the dynamics of Kamarajar Port branded as bulk port. It will help in the port handling multiple cargoes and sources believe that there will be huge demand from exporters and importers to use the facility.
The container terminal is part of the port’s plan to increase cargo handling capacity to 86 million tonnes. Read More…
