The UT Electricity department has submitted its reply to the Joint Electricity Regulatory Commission (JERC) on energy audit of its Transmission and Distribution (T&D) system. The department in its reply submitted that energy audit report can be submitted to the commission only after installation of smart meters.
The power regulatory authority had directed the UT electricity department to conduct energy audit of its T&D system. The directions issued by the JERC reads, “The commission believes that the UT electricity department is well-equipped to carry out the energy audit in its territory and the commission does not intend to intervene in the operational decision making of the petitioner. The commission thus, directs the petitioner to carry out the energy audit at the earliest and submit the same to the commission.”
